What Is a CD?
529 Plan CD’s are similar to savings accounts and traditional bank CD’s in that they have a fixed or variable interest rate for a certain term and are FDIC insured up to $250K. The difference is that 529 CD interest earnings is tax deferred and tax free if used for qualified college expenses.
